Watermelon Lemonade
If you love watermelon and you love lemonade, I’m about to make your day.
OK, I know I’m a bit late in posting this in time for the Labor Day weekend picnics, but there’s sure to be some sunny days ahead when you’ll be very happy to have this recipe.
Watermelon lemonade is a great marriage of lemons and watermelon and a nice alternative to iced tea (not that there’s anything wrong with iced tea—I’m a fan).
It’s cold, it’s refreshing, it’s delicious—the perfect trifecta for a hot sunny day. Enjoy…

Watermelon Lemonade
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- 2 cups fresh watermelon purée, strained through a coarse strainer to remove seeds
- 3/4 cup simple syrup*
- 3 cups cold water
*To make simple syrup, simmer one part water with one part sugar until sugar has dissolved. I used a cup of each and ended up with some extra left over.
Directions
Stir lemon juice, watermelon purée, simple syrup, and water all together and serve over ice. You can garnish it with a thin watermelon or lemon wedge if you want to dress it up. Enough for 8 glasses (filled with ice cubes)
